What is ceramic flooring?

 

Ceramic floors are made from clay. They are shaped tiles that are fired in a likn. A glaze is then added to the tiles, and a second firing is needed. Ceramic tiles are most often square shaped, but come in a variety of sizes.

 

 

 

Why ceramic?

 

Ceramic floors traditional in all rooms of a house, but especially bathrooms and kitchens because of their durability, moisture-resistance and ease of cleaning and maintainence. Ceramic floors should be sweeped regularly so that dirt doesn't scratch the tiles. Vacuuming is also ok as long as you don't use a beater bar. Be carefull when moving furniture on ceramic floors, and avoid using abrasive cleaners like scouring powder and steel wool on them.
